A lot of guests assume they’ll need a car for a stay in Wales or the South West, and while it helps for some of the more rural North Wales trips, it’s genuinely optional for Cardiff, Bristol, and Bath.
Cardiff is compact and walkable at its centre, with most of our city properties within easy reach of the castle, the Bay, and the main shopping streets on foot. For anything further out, Cardiff’s bus network is reliable, and the train station puts you within a short hop of Newport, Bristol, and the wider South Wales coast if you fancy a day trip without driving.
Bristol works similarly, though its hills mean a bit more planning around routes. The harbourside, Clifton, and the city centre are all connected by a mix of walking routes and a decent bus network, and the ferry service across the harbour is both practical and a genuinely pleasant way to get between the SS Great Britain, the M Shed, and the city centre.
Bath is the easiest of the three — small enough that most of what you’ll want to see is within a fifteen-minute walk of the city centre, and the train station connects directly to Bristol in around fifteen minutes if you want to combine both cities in one trip.
For contractors and corporate guests specifically, this matters for a different reason: parking at the property is one thing, but not needing a hire car for the working week itself is a genuine cost saving over a longer placement.
If you do want a car — for North Wales trips especially, or to explore more rural parts of the South West — most of our properties do offer free or private parking, so it’s easy to combine a car-free city stay with a car-based excursion when you want one.
